Why Cedar & Stone?

Practical Systems

Removable Panels

One of the more innovative features of our products are the removable fence panels. Several of our fence designs are constructed so that the panels of the fence are removable and replaceable. This feature makes access a snap, quickly opening a six to eight-foot wide berth for landscapers, arborists, or for you the homeowner.

Kick Plates

Kick Plates are a piece of 2x10 material that is placed on its side under a fence panel. They can provide some extra panel height and help to keep dogs from digging under your fence. They also act as a retaining wall for grade changes between your yard and your neighbor’s.

Top Caps

Nearly all of our fences feature a 2x4 or 2x6 Top-Cap and serves a variety of purposes. First, they tie the top of the fence panel and the fence posts together, strengthening the fence and giving it more rigidity near the top. Second, they protect the top of the pickets from precipitation and UV damage. Top Caps also contribute to the clean, finished look that Cedar & Stone fences are known for.

First-Rate Materials

Wood Posts vs. Metal Posts

At Cedar & Stone we believe in using wood posts instead of the boxed metal posts commonly used here in Central Oregon. Why? Over time, boxed metal posts loosen as the lag bolts that hold them together slowly back out. Once that happens the posts lose rigidity and slowly fall apart. Boxed posts are also hollow and create homes for wasps, hornets, and spiders.

We use Cedar or Pressure-treated Doug-Fir posts, depending on your preference. Each post is set two feet deep with 120 lbs of concrete on each post. Due to a lack of water in the ground in the high desert environment, posts tend not to rot out like they do in more humid climates. We hand-select each post for vertical wood grain to help prevent any bending or twisting. See an example of how boxed posts deteriorate →

The Cedar & Stone Gate System

At Cedar & Stone we pride ourselves on our gates. A good gate should open and close easily and snap shut with a quality latch.

Wood Species Options

At Cedar & Stone working with Cedar is what we love. We also understand that everyone has a different budget, which is why we offer different species of wood to help you get the look you want while keeping cost in mind. We work with Cedar, Doug-Fir, Redwood, Juniper and even offer reclaimed wood for most projects.

Attention to Detail

Quality construction starts at the beginning. Each post, rail, and fence picket is hand-selected by Tim to ensure the highest quality product available. We look for vertical wood grain in our posts and rails and select the finest cedar fence pickets available for each project. Cuts, corners, and panel-ends are routered and rounded for a clean, smooth, intentional look.
